URSA Volunteer of the Year

Joan has been working for Mary Kay for four years and it doesn’t look as though she is about to stop any time soon. Joan believes in what MK stands for, and does whatever she can do be an advocate for women’s self esteem. MK and Joan are driven by the same goal – to enrich women’s lives. They both share the ‘Look good! Feel good!’ mentality, which Joan spreads like wild fire during her monthly visits to URSA.
Joan donates her time once a month (or when needed) to pamper our clients. She provides them with facials, manicures, and an all around feel good experience.
The reasons why Joan began volunteering in the first place are numerous. She was touched by volunteers in the past when her children were hospitalized. “My kids spent a lot of time in the hospital, and there were a lot of volunteers that helped me. This is me returning the favour! I love the ‘giving back feeling’ that comes with volunteering.” She began volunteering with URSA two years ago and has since become a big supporter of the organization. “The clients have touched me in so many ways. I love the fact that the clients can’t wait for my next visit. Joanne always knows when I am coming in, and she is waiting patiently for me to get set up and start my work. Their smiles make this whole experience worthwhile, and that is the reason why I continue to do this. It’s all about helping out, and I will always go the extra mile for URSA.”
Because of Joan’s passion and selfless contribution to URSA, she was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award in 2010.
