What's going on at URSA?
2012 Motorcycle Awareness Ride
Our 21st Annual Motorcycle Awareness Ride is coming up on Sunday May 27th, 2012. It will once again start at 808 Manning Road NE (URSA Headquarters) and end at Wild Wild West Event Centre for a BBQ. The purpose of the Ride is to create awareness of the relationship between motorcycle safety, injury prevention as well as to raise funds for our rehabilitation programs.
Gateway House
This past summer URSA was very pleased to enter into a partnership with The Brenda Strafford Foundation, for the operation of Gateway Place. Gateway Place was once a home for women without children affected by domestic violence. Under URSA’s direction, this 5 bedroom house in the community of Braeside will become home to individuals living with a brain injury or developmental disability.

URSA would like to take this opportunity to thank The Brenda Strafford Foundation for supporting URSA with our philosophy: that everyone no matter their ability deserves a home. Gateway Place will be just that for its future residents, a place to call home. Building community capacity cannot be done alone, and by strengthening relationships with our neighboring caring communities we are investing in our future social capital.
Safeway Partners with URSA
Canada Safeway Limited has partnered with URSA to offer a fantastic fundraising event. When you purchase a gift card from URSA that can be used at any Safeway in Canada or the USA, URSA will receive 5% of all funds raised. Gift cards are available in the following amounts: $10.00, $25.00, $50.00, $100.00 or $500.00.

Heroes Among Us Fundraiser
with Alexandre Bilodeau
You Tube video of Alexandre winning Canada's FIRST gold medal
On October 29th 2011 URSA hosted a fundraising dinner with Alexandre Bilodeau and his brother Frederic Bilodeau at the Glenmore Inn and Convention Centre. Alexandre captivated the country as a whole when he won
the first Canadian Olympic Gold Medal on home soil at
the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
We thank all who attended as well as our many sponsors.

URSA turns 25
On Wednesday November 178th URSA celebrated a huge milestone in providing service to persons with developmental disabilities and those who have sustained a brain injury. URSA first opened their doors in November 1985. November 2010 marked 25 years in service. Many of our supporters joined us in an Open House at our main office. We also as a agecny completed a commemorative quilt (shown above).
On Wednesday April 27th, 2011 URSA hosted an event with Olympic Medalists Melissa Hollingsworth (skeleton) and Helen Upperton (bobsleigh). URSA clients participated in a mini URSA style torch relay and a great time was had by all. A very BIG thank you to the Dilawri Automotive Group for making this day possible.
