Residential
Having a place to call home is not something to take lightly. URSA believes everyone, no matter what challenges each person may face, deserves this right. URSA currently operates five Residential homes where each residence is a home for six individuals.
The homes that our residents live in provide a safe, comfortable and loving environment where each individual can experience personal growth, empowerment, relax and invite friends and loved ones to visit. For each of the homes URSA believes in:
- A family home atmosphere where the resident comes first.
- A Wholistic model where all the programs and activities the residents participate in are based on each individual’s physical, mental, social, spiritual, emotional needs and interests.
- The resident, family and other supports are fully involved in creating a lifestyle plan that is tailor made for each individual and their personal goals.
- Each residence provides a safe environment for each resident to be independent, expressive and able to participate in daily house duties with in the home.
Each individual having opportunities to access and be involved in the community.
Everyone faces challenges in life however it is not the challenges that run a persons life - it is the person who decides on how to overcome each challenge. In each of the residential homes there are individuals that face some of the following challenges:
- Challenged with a diagnosis of severely to profoundly handicapped
- Challenged with requiring assistance or total care in ambulation, feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene
- Challenged with requiring assistance with communication from either staff or by technological advances.
- Challenged with having chronic medical conditions, which may require monitoring by external medical personnel, but in general, the direct care staff will provide personal care and minor health care
Wholistic Day Alternative Program:
As our individuals grow and gain skills in independence, they also increase their interests in becoming more involved with in the community.
Unfortunately due to various medical conditions and needs of support, traditional forms of employment and or Day programs are not ideal for some of the residents URSA serves. - Flexible in programming times to allow the participants to attend when is best for them during the day.
Recreation oriented to allow for the learning of new skills through play and fun - Staffed with individuals that are experienced with assisting individuals that are faced with a wide variety of challenges.
URSA started up a new Day Program in October 2008. This initiative is focused on providing quality programming for individuals who are diagnosed with having various chronic medical conditions and is:
