To a person with distinctive needs, these requirements are not always met. Thankfully, URSA offers a residence designed to meet some of the challenges and complications of every day living. It offers protection from the world, a supportive environment and an opportunity to grow, learn and succeed.
Personal Care Homes
Four Personal Care Homes are operated in partnership between URSA and Alberta Health Services. Each site is operated in a home-like setting with a commitment to our residents and their families; a promise to help them maximize their potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
With a belief in a wholistic approach, we identify each unique and distinctive need in every individual. We work closely with our client, their family and the AHS to create a nurturing, encouraging home environment. A place where our residents are encouraged to explore their personal growth while showing them the respect and dignity they deserve.
Our Personal Care Homes provide:
- Personal care
- Recreation and leisure opportunities
- Community integration
- A safe and protected living environment
We serve individuals who:
- are faced with the challenge of living with a brain injury
- require assistance in ambulation, eating, dressing and personal hygiene
- require assistance in daily living activities such as life skills, budgeting and planning hobbies/recreation
- are over the age of 18
Wholistic Homes
Your environment shouldn’t just meet your needs. It should anticipate your needs and ensure they are met adequately and effortlessly. Your home should support and encourage you. It should strengthen and nurture your spirit.
URSA operates three residences – each of them home to 5 or 6 individuals. The guiding principles are followed in the operation of these homes:
- Each home is governed by a Wholistic model. The programs and activities the client participates in are based on their individual needs and interests.
- We work closely with the client, their family and their other support members. We are able to create a lifestyle plan tailored for each individual and their specific needs.
- Each home provides a nurturing environment. Clients are introduced to situations designed toward achieving their individual goals. These goals are structured toward greater client independence and increased involvement within the community.
